COVID Protocol Update - Updated Oct 21, 2022

We want to inform you of some changes with the COVID protocols at the arena starting with your next visit. Going forward, the health screening, contact tracing or proof of vaccination/identification will be completed by the arena staff/hired security (versus the user previously). As such, there will be an online Contact Tracing / Health Screening form to fill out (there will also be an option to complete a paper sign-in if necessary but it will NOT be pre-populated as in past visits). The staff/security will also be checking the proof of vaccination and identification at each visit.

Here is a link to the Contact Tracing Form so you can complete prior to arrival. Note there is also a QR code on the door of the arena.

You are also now able to download your enhanced vaccine certificate here.

  1. Each participant, coach, executive member and volunteer must sign the Skate Ontario waiver form prior to any participation in club activities.
  2. All participants taking part in club activities must self-screen in accordance with current public health guidelines before each session.
  3. The Daily Health Screening Questionnaire will also take place on-site before participation in any club activities. This screening will be completed verbally as skaters enter the arena.
  4. All persons entering are to complete sign in. This will confirm the health screening has been completed (and passed), and is also used for contact tracing.
  5. All persons must practice physical distancing and wear a mask. Skaters are permitted to remove masks while on the ice.
  6. Spectators are permitted but limited. We recommend keeping spectators to immediate household.
  7. COVID-19 Credit Policy: In the event that a participant is unable to attend a regularly scheduled session due to symptoms or a positive case of COVID-19, the club will credit that participant for the session missed. It is up to the parent of the participant to request the credit by emailing the club at tavistockskatingclub@yahoo.ca.
  8. Should the skating season be cancelled due to an arena closure, participants who have registered will receive credit or a refund for the prorated amount of the season remaining, not including the Skate Canada fee.
  9. Skaters and parents will use the appropriate entrance and exit doors at the facility, as marked by the facility.
  10. Spectators will follow all facility guidelines for social distancing, including wearing a face mask and sitting in designated areas. Spectators will follow the same protocols as skaters as they enter the facility, including a verbal health questionnaire and hand sanitizing.
  11. Participants will sanitize/wash hands upon entry to the facility and before getting on the ice.
  12. Skaters must wear a face mask while in the facility until on the ice.
  13. Coaches must wear a face mask while in the facility until on the ice, as well as on ice where appropriate.
  14. Skaters must arrive in the facility in their skating attire. Dressing rooms will be available for putting on skates only. Skaters will be assigned to dressing rooms where they will remain 2 metres apart.
  15. Each skater must use their own water bottle, kleenex, etc.  Skaters must bring a closed container(e.g. ziplock bag) to take home any waste(tissues, etc.) from the facility. There will be designated areas along the boards to store items while on the ice.
  16. Skaters must remain 2 m apart at all times when on the ice where possible.
  17. All winter gloves must be washed daily.
  18. Coaches will coach from one spot on the ice as much as possible to maintain physical distancing from all skaters and coaches, however, hands-on coaching is permitted.
  19. All teaching aids will be sanitized immediately after each session they are used on.
  20. Coaches will be responsible for all injuries on the ice. They will have masks and gloves readily available in order to perform any necessary first aid. All injuries must be reported to Meghan Tallevi (Club President) for follow up with Skate Ontario.

What Skaters need to know:

  • There will be dressing rooms available. Skaters will be placed 2 meters apart for putting on and taking off skates. Designated spots must not be shared and skaters must stay in their spot or in front of their spot until directed to the ice by coaches.

  • A small bag used for carrying personal items may be stored beneath the designated spot in the dressing room.

  • While on the ice, guards and water bottles must be placed on the boards in a designated area that adheres to social distancing requirements.

  • Food and personal items may not be shared.

  • Coaches are permitted to use physical contact while assisting skaters as necessary. Coaches and choreographers will coach from one spot at the edge of the ice or off the ice, whenever possible.

  • There will be one person designated to play music during the session. Music equipment will be cleaned between each use.
