Tara Wilkins is entering her 14th season as head coach of Team Unity synchronized skating teams out of Tavistock, Ontario.
Tara's love for figure skating and Synchronized skating began at the Burlington Skating Center in her early years. At the age of 8 she attended her first tryout for Burlington Ice Image and was hooked. Tara skated for Burlington Ice Image from 1989-2000 under the coaching of Brenda Bradica (1989-1992) and Shelley Barnett (1993-2000).
With Burlington Ice Image, Tara earned her first Novice National Canadian Title, Junior National Canadian Title and competed Internationally with both the Junior and Senior Teams. In total earning 3 Novice National Medals, 5 Junior National Medals and 3 Senior National Medals. Tara also represented Canada at 2 World Challenge Cups and the first ever ISU Senior World Synchronized Skating Championship held in 2000, earning respectively 4th, 4th and 8th place.
Tara went on to skate after University for Burlington Ice Image Adult in 2004 earning bronze at the Canadian National Championships and for Nexxice Adult in 2006 earning a silver medal at the Canadian National Championships.
With a deep passion for Synchronized Skating, Tara wanted to be able to share her knowledge with both the grass roots development and within the Adult categories. Over the past 13 seasons Team Unity has grown from its first Team in the Adult II category, to a total of 9 teams covering Star 4, Juvenile, Pre Novice, Intermediate, Adult I, II and III.
Tara has achieved her NCCP Provincial, and is National in training. As a skater she has earned her Gold Skills, Gold Artistic, Gold & Diamond Dances, and Senior Silver Freeskate.
Tara Wilkins resides in Burlington Ontario with her husband Chris Bunting, and their two children Jacob and Scarlett.
