SKATERS PASS GOLD TESTS

The Tavistock and District Skating club would like to recognize several STAR Skaters who have achieved their gold tests in the last few seasons, despite several interruptions in the skating season due to Covid. These skaters have worked hard to reach the highest level of achievement based on Skate Canada standards. Gold Artistics were completed by Shelby Vanderhyden (March 2020), Jorja Koot (December 2021) and Callie Brenneman (April 2022). Gold skills were also completed by Callie Brenneman (April 2022) and Reegan Ziegler (April 2022). The club and coaches are proud of all the Tavistock skaters and look forward to another season full of skating, fun and achievements!

TEAM UNITY WRAPS UP THE SEASON WITH 2 TEAMS CROWNED PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONS

The 3 Team Unity youth synchronized skating teams from Tavistock competed at the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships at Iceland arena, Mississauga, on Sunday March 27th. The teams also competed in London on March 12th in the March Hubs competition.
Pre-Juvenile team finished in 4th place out of 10 teams at Provincials, up from their 5th place finish at the March Hub competition. This team had 2 fantastic competition skates this season, competing for the first time since January 2020. This team is coached by Tara Wilkins and Lauren Holdsworth, and skated to a Rolling Stones program this year.
A huge congratulations to our Pre-Novice team who was crowned Provincial champions, out of 11 teams. This team also won the gold medal at the March Hub competition for their Michael Jackson program.
Our Intermediate team also earned the title of Provincial Champions and were the gold medalists at the March Hub competition.
Finally, our 4 adult teams also competed at March Hub, bringing home 4 medals: Adult 1 won gold, Adult 2 won gold, Adult 2 Image won silver and Adult 3 won gold.
A huge thank you to Coach Tara Wilkins who choreographs all programs and coaches all TU teams. She drives over an hour to coach in Tavistock, sharing her passion for synchro with our skaters. We are looking forward to next season with tryouts currently underway, followed by a 4-week skills session.
