posted Feb 7, 2022, 8:53 PM
This picture was taken at the Tavistock Arena on Saturday February 5th during our Canskate session. Our Pre-Canskate, Parent & Tot, and Canskate programs were excited to return to the ice. Our programs have been extended by 5 weeks to account for the time that was missed when the arena was closed in January.

Five Team Unity synchronized skating teams, representing the Tavistock & District Skating Club, competed this past Saturday, February 5th in the 2022 Ontario Regional Synchronized Skating Championships at Sixteen Mile complex, Oakville. All teams performed very well, despite the 4 week closure of arenas and less than a week to practice before this event. With a limit on the number of spectators, friends & family could watch & cheer teams on by watching the live stream from home. Our Intermediate team, with 16 skaters (ages 13 - 19), had 2 strong skates and earned a bronze medal out of 8 teams from across Ontario. This team will compete at the Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships in Calgary on Feb 25 - 27. The national competition will also be live streamed from Skate Canada's website. The team is appreciative of any sponsorship to help offset costs as they travel out west. They will be performing at the Tavistock Braves game this Saturday February 12th.Our adult teams also skated well this past weekend at Ontario Regionals - their first competition since March 2020:
- Adult 1 - gold
- Adult 2 - gold
- Adult 2 Image - silver
- Adult 3 - gold
The teams are happy to be back on the ice and training again. A huge thank you to coach, Tara Wilkins, who coaches all 8 Team Unity teams, pushing skaters to do their best and choreographing beautiful routines. All of our youth teams will be performing at the pop concert, which has been rescheduled to Sunday February 20th.We are also grateful to the arena staff and the community for their continued support.Congratulations to Rianna Forthuber, a Tavistock skater, who competes on Nexxice's Junior team training in Burlington . Rianna and her team earned gold in the Junior category this past weekend!
