PLANS FOR THE 2020-21 SEASON ARE UNDERWAY WITH SKATING REGISTRATION TO BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER!

Dear skating families,

We are pleased to let you know that the Tavistock & District Skating Club is planning to run skating programs for the 2020-21 season!  Our goal is to provide recreation for our youth this season through quality Skate Canada programming. We are also committed to keeping costs as affordable as possible for families.

Given the continually evolving health situation, we will be following the guidelines for our sport as set by Skate Ontario & Skate Canada. The schedule for our regular skating programs will look different this year as we must account for restricted numbers on the ice, as well as additional cleaning protocols. Our volunteer executive members are working hard to get everything in place and doing their best to make things work for everyone (skaters, families, and coaches). Currently, we are aiming to have sessions set and the registration website ready for September 1st.

Our plan is to run a 10-week session for STAR skaters (starting Sept 20) and an 8-week session for CanSkate (starting October 3) and reassess our financial situation, along with the health situation, to determine programming for the rest of the season.

[Note: For Youth Synchro – August practice times have been communicated. Information about registration will be coming soon!].

We wanted to also let you know that, with the restrictions and additional protocols, the cost to run our sessions will significantly increase. Rather than drastically raise registration fees, the executive has opted to keep registration fees similar to last season and will look for the support of our skating families and community to raise the funds we need to break even this year.  We are in this together!

We need your help! Please consider helping us in our quest to raise the money we need to keep the club skating into 2021 in a financially viable way!

What you can do now:

  • With school starting back up, perhaps you need some more labels! Please look for the Tavistock Skating Club when purchasing your Mabels labels at www.mabelslabels.com
  • Watch for our pizza fundraising night with New Orlean’s Pizza (Tavistock location only) - we are working to schedule a date for mid-September. $5 from every order of $20+ will go directly to the club! Watch Facebook for the confirmed date and please share the post so we can get the word out to the community!
  • Do you own or know a business, farm, or organization that would consider donation/sponsorship to the club, even in these unusual times? Please email the club (tavistockskatingclub@yahoo.ca) and we would be happy to send them a sponsorship letter.
  • Watch for our fundraising package, which will be available by mid-October and posted on our website. Even if you do not have a skater participating in our programs this year, we welcome any money raised to help keep our club skating strong!

We hope everyone is staying healthy & well. We hope to see many of you at the arena very soon.
